Fred Sirieix’s wife is known to the public as Fruitcake. Her real name has never been published, she has never given a press interview, and her job has never been confirmed. She married the First Dates host at a clifftop villa in Negril, Jamaica, in February 2025, after roughly a decade together.
She has written plenty about her own life in public, though. Much of it since December 2024 has been about Bell’s palsy, which put her in hospital two months before the wedding. She was still writing about the recovery in June.

Who Fruitcake is
She runs an Instagram account under the name fruitcake_fundamentals, where she posts about fashion, travel and health to around 25,000 followers.
She has described herself as the granddaughter of Caribbean migrants who arrived with the Windrush Generation, and has said that history is personal to her rather than something she read about. In June she spoke at a Windrush Day event in Cardiff, and told her followers afterwards that a young person had come up to talk to her when she finished. She was at a Windrush reception at Downing Street in July.
Sirieix has said she has a job. He has never said what it is.
Why her name has never been made public
Sirieix was asked about it directly in July last year by Michael Odell, who interviewed him for The Times and found him open about nearly everything else. Odell’s one complaint was that everybody still has to call his wife Fruitcake.
“She has a job,” he replied. He added that nobody needs to know who she is, and that publicity would interfere with her life.
Asked by OK! why he calls her Fruitcake in the first place, he said the nickname was between the two of them, and that it was all she wanted people to know.
How Fred Sirieix met his wife
He has told this story several times and it has not changed much. He was walking through Peckham in south London when she smiled at him. He smiled back, liked her eyes, and asked for her number and whether she fancied a drink that night. Speaking in the I’m a Celebrity camp in November 2023, he said that had been nine years earlier, which puts the meeting at around 2014.
They went public in 2018. In March 2020 he announced the engagement with the message “#fruitcake said yes”, and later told Good Morning Britain he had proposed without a ring because the shops were shut, then sorted one out when lockdown eased.
The wedding itself kept moving:
- 2021: planned, then dropped because family could not travel
- September 2023: Sirieix said they were still deciding on a date
- November 2023: he told his campmates they would marry in Jamaica the following year
- February 2025: they married, a year later than he had said
The wedding in Jamaica
They married on 18 February 2025 at Pattoo Castle, a villa on the cliffs at Negril. Sirieix wore a white tuxedo jacket, black trousers and a bow tie, and his bride a strapless white gown and a veil. He posted a photograph with the date as the entire caption. She commented underneath it: “Best day of my life”.
His son Lucien was best man and his daughter, the Olympic diver Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix, gave a reading. Messages came in afterwards from Sara Davies, Greg Rutherford, Marvin Humes and his First Dates colleague Cici Coleman. Sirieix posted the pictures again in February this year for their first anniversary.
What she has said about Bell’s palsy
Two months before that wedding, in December 2024, she was taken to hospital. The paramedics who attended her first suspected a stroke. It turned out to be Bell’s palsy, which weakens or paralyses one side of the face, and she told her followers about it at the time.
She and Sirieix appeared together as diners on a First Dates Valentine’s special on 11 February this year. She said on camera that the recovery had taken longer than she expected, and that she did not recognise herself.
In June she wrote that she had been posting less than usual because she was still rebuilding her confidence. Her face behaved better on holiday, she said, and less well at home in Britain when the weather turned and life got busier. Some days she noticed how far she had come, other days she noticed what was not yet right. “Life doesn’t have to be perfect to be shared,” she wrote.
Alex Spendolini was not his first wife
Sirieix has been married once. Before Fruitcake he was with Alessandra “Alex” Spendolini for about 12 years. She is Italian, and she is the mother of his two children. The couple never married, so she is not his ex-wife and Fruitcake is not his second wife.
Their daughter Andrea won bronze in the 10m synchronised platform at the Paris Olympics in 2024 with Lois Toulson. Their son Lucien started a candle and soap business at 16.
What Sirieix has said about being married
Speaking to the Mirror last December, ten months after the wedding, he said the two of them are “chalk and cheese” and that most of their rows are domestic ones about whether the kitchen counter has been wiped or the floor swept. He said they enjoy each other’s company and each other’s jokes.
In an interview with Woman magazine published in January, he talked about staying a separate person inside a marriage. Some days he does not want to talk, he said, and it is not a reflection on the person he is with.
Sirieix is on Channel 4 at the moment with Fred’s Ultimate Hotels. His wife spent her birthday in Mykonos in August, and was on a bus at Notting Hill Carnival a week later, saying she wants to go back next year and play mas properly.
